This Fall Jon Erickson will be painting throughout the coulee region and participating in the Between the Bluffs plein air competition. His final works will be displayed at the Between the Bluffs public show and sale in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Public Show & Sale: Sat. Oct. 19 from 11am - 4pm and Sunday Oct. 20 from 12noon - 3 p.m.

Jon Erickson art featured at bluff country studio art tour April 26-28, 2024

Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is a self-guided studio tour taking place in Southeast Minnesota typically last full weekend in April. Locations participating in the tour are located from Winona to the Iowa border and from the Mississippi River west to the communities along US Highway 52. Many of the artists participate in their studios but there are also galleries and a shared display space at the Lanesboro Community Center for artists whose studios aren’t condusive or accessible for visitors. 2023 Between the Bluffs Plein Air Competition

Plein Air Painting Competition & Show

The 2023 Plein Air Competition in La Crosse, Wisconsin will feature over 25 artists competing for a number of painting awards. Artists have two weeks to paint up to three entries within a 15 mile circumference of La Crosse. Jon Erickson will be participating and traveling to a variety of remote locations in the Coulee Region to capture amazing vistas.

QUICK PAINT COMPETITION will be held Saturday, Sept. 23rd on Grandad Bluff. There is an overhead shelter (pavilion) and public bathrooms on location. Artists will be painting anywhere in the area and the winning paintings will be announced at 1 pm. The Public is welcome to attend this competition. Location: Grandad Bluff City Park (top of Bliss Road, follow the signs)

The Judge for the competition is artist Frank Eber from Central California. He is also offering an artists workshop Sept. 18-24. A painter's painter, Frank Eber works in a direct, loose style influenced by the Old World masters. Typical in his art are color mixes and light that evoke nostalgia while remaining absolutely in the present. Frank's watercolor workshops reach beyond technique, encouraging individual expression and observing the elusive balance of forces that create beauty in painting

THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO ATTEND THE AWARDS EVENT, ART SHOW AND SALE:

The artists will be exhibiting their works and giving attendees the chance to own a beautiful painting showcasing the fabulous landscape surrounding our area. Up to 75 paintins will be displayed and available for purchase.

Open House Show and Sale:

Jon Erickson will be participating in the 2022 Plein Air Competition in the La Crosse, Wisconsin area. The artist competition begins Sept. 9 - Sept. 25th. Following are the details:

What: New original outdoor paintings by over 30 artists in an art festival & sale

Plein air painting is the experience of painting in nature without the four walls of a studio. The 2022 Ninth Annual Plein Air Painting Between the Bluffs festival and competition includes over 30 regional artists who compete for best original landscape art--all painted outdoors and between the bluffs of the Coulee Region.

The art will then be displayed and for sale at a Public Show & Sale at Studio Gallery 1311 in La Crosse (1311 Market St. in La Crosse) on Saturday, 9/24, 11 am to 4 pm. Admission is Free and the show continues on Sunday 12 pm to 3 pm. More details are at www.betweenthebluffs.com.

Other Public Events: Watercolor demonstration by artist Bob Witte Saturday Sept. 17 at 8 am. Location: Goose Island, La Crosse. Meet at South end of Goose Island by the boat launch. Artists “Quick Paint “Competition Saturday Sept. 24 at Grandad's Bluff in La Crosse. The public is welcome to observe the artists painting at the overlook area on Grandad's Bluff, La Crosse. Artists will compete to produce their work of art in a two hour window. Event begins at 10 a.m. and judging will be at noon with prizes awarded at 1 p.m.
